This was a complimentary copy given to a gentleman who was a major glassworks owner in San Jose, California, with specialty bottles. Gifted to, and signed by Arpad Haraszthy, the president of the California State Viticultural Commission. It is also blind stamped by Duane B. Perkins, who was an agent for the California Stage Company and in the 1880s was President of the Sacramento Transportation Co., river navigation on the Sacramento, American, and San Joaquin rivers, seeing to the delivery of agricultural products between Sacramento and San Francisco. An amazing volume in very good condition with a colored viticultural map of California, and two viticultural sketches of vines by Edward Bosqui, esteemed printers and lithographers, San Francisco. Inside the manual is the rare calling card for Arpad Haraszthy with his business information.
